YOUR CHANCE
Volunteer with Paul Wanjigi Alpine High School in Naivasha, Kenya! We invite you to come, learn, and give back. Quality education meets support to vulnerable children: We equip the students with the tools they need to thrive and succeed in life.
In Kenya, the challenges facing vulnerable children are numerous, with limited job opportunities and high skill set requirements for graduates.
By volunteering at P.W.A., you have the opportunity to make a profound impact on the lives of our students. Your support can provide them with the resources and mentorship they need to succeed.
Volunteer Roles
You can focus on one area or do a combination of multiple roles.
Teaching Assistance
You support the main teacher in classroom activities, help prepare teaching materials, and provide personal assistance to students.
Social Work and Mental Health
Through games, programs and conversation you provide guidance, counselling, and support to students, addressing their social, emotional, and behavioural needs.
Skills Training
You provide hands-on instruction and guidance to students, helping them develop and refine their practical skills in various areas like football, volleyball, journalism, dancing or any area of your choice.
Landscaping and Handiwork
You enhance our outdoor spaces, utilising your skills to create beautiful and functional landscapes that inspire our students and create a conducive learning and living environment.
Administration
You assist with student document management, monitoring and evaluation activities, and contributing to the overall efficiency of administrative processes at our school.
Social Media
You manage and create engaging content for our school’s social media platforms, interact with our online community, and help promote our school’s mission and activities to a wider audience.

Monday and Tuesday
Mondays and Tuesdays are your off days! Feel free to hang around or go explore the area – tips on what to do, see below.
Your accommodation
You will be accommodated in a beautiful two-story house just 10 minutes walking distance from the school. You will share the house with other volunteers and interns. There is a kitchen, two bathrooms, a living room, two shared bedrooms, and an upstairs chill-out area with lake view.
The rooms in the house might need a fresh coat of paint every now and then, the garden can be cultivated, and the outside areas can be designed and shaped. Feel free to use your skills and ideas to help us to make this a comfortable and attractive environment for many volunteers to come.
Activities In and Around Naivasha
During your free time, you have the chance to explore by visiting attractions like
- Lake Naivasha
- Hell’s Gate National Park
- Mount Longonot
You can go hiking, visit local markets, say hi to giraffes, zebras, and gazelles, shop at the mall, or simply relax and enjoy the tranquillity of this charming small town of Naivasha, which has a population of about 200,000 people.
From the school/your accommodation, it’s either a 30 min walk or a 10 min motor taxi (“boda”) ride to the main road. From the main road, you can take a minibus (“matatu”) to Naivasha town, which takes about 15 min. Matatus and bodas are the main means of transport in the area, though it’s also possible to get a taxi, which we recommend especially after sunset.
